Two options for the overhang.
If you want to change the position of the roof use the properties palette to edit the base level and offset properties to change the position.
Roofs by footprint have an overhang input box sketched roofs use the standard offset tools.
Look at the option bar.
If you try to add a roof on the lowest level a dialog prompts you to move it to a higher level.

There are 3 primary sub tools that you can use to model roofs in revit roof by footprint roof by extrusion and roof by face.
