You can cut openings in the faces of these elements or you can select the entire element to make a vertical cut.
You now know how to join roofs in revit.
Then follow these 2 steps.
To create a dormer model required walls and additional roof.
Click modify tab geometry panel cut drop down cut geometry.
Click by face or vertical.
Open the revit family with unattached voids and click create tab properties panel family category and parameters.
At this point you ve cut 1 roof rafter.
The number of rafters needed will be determined by the length of your roof.
