Revit Create Roof Plan View

This view should ideally have been generated from the level that will act as the host or base level for your new roof construction.

For type select a view type from the list or click edit type to modify an existing view type or create a new view type. This will bring up a selection tool. In the view properties expand the underlay drop down and select the level on which the roof was created to display as an underlay.
